Indianapolis, IN, May 16, 2008– AWMV Industrial Products is introducing a high-production bandmill that combines a traveling, thin-kerf sawhead with a stationary log carriage. The company has christened the machine: 4250SCH.
The new 4250SCH is unlike traditional mills in that the log carriage remains stationary, while the 17 degree slanted sawhead moves back and forth through the log. Featuring a 50HP motor and 42” bandwheels, it offers high-speed processing, high yields, and low operating costs.
The 4250SCH is equipped to process logs from 8” to 48” in diameter and up to 18ft long with the capability to extend the length to 36ft long. The 4250SCH utilizes an ultra thin-kerf 50mm wide bandsaw blade. Other features of the 4250SCH include a shock-absorbing conveyor for boards, slabs, and cants; and a conventional AC drive cable/drum that moves the sawhead using only 20HP.
“The 4250SCH offers a mill operation a lot of flexibility,” comments Darryl Floyd, AWMV Product Manager. “It can run as the primary headrig, a grade saw, a long log saw, or as a supplement to a breakdown line. At any stage, the 4250SCH reduces operating costs, produces high yields and ultimately provides higher profits,” concludes Darryl.
The cutting head is also available in a vertical configuration as a stand-alone headsaw (4250VH) for integration into existing conventional moving carriage mills where an upgrade is required for more efficiency.
