Floored: AWMV Resaw, Ripsaw and Moulder Used to Recycle Old Structures into Unique Flooring
What would you do with 1.5 million board feet of lumber, destined to be demolished? In Steve Owens’ case, partner in one of the nation’s largest cattle auction businesses, the answer was easy- recycle and turn it into unique, natural faced oak flooring. When Steve moved his stockyard from Springfield, MO, he had to figure out how to dispose of 14 acres of wooden structures. Rather than demolish the structures, he chose a financially viable and better environmental alternative with the help of AWMV resaw, ripsaw and multi-sided moulder. The equipment converted salvaged stockyard lumber into beautiful flooring, with both economic and social value.
AWMV Sawmill, Resaw and Edger Help Turn Timber Damaged by Insects into Quality Pallet Lumber
Bill Oerding of Woodwurx Corporation has found a profitable way of using thin-kerf sawmill technology to process timber, damaged by California’s bark beetle infestations. Utilizing AWMV ‘s LT300 sawmill, a MultiHead band resaw system with six heads and a model 430 twin blade, adjustable edger, Bill’s company produces 30,000 board feet of pine-on grade pallet lumber daily. The thin-kerf advantage has helped Bill achieve his economic goals by recovering 40% more lumber than a circular mill.
